This ted talk on "How we wrecked the ocean" really meant a lot to me. This is because in my future college years i hope to study the field of marine biology and have a career in the topic. The video describes how we year by year are destroying the ocean and this is obviously not a good thing for marine biology. The ocean is being overfished, overheated, and polluted and indications are that the ocean will get much worst. Things more industrial like as well including oil spills, and other industrial issues in or near the sea is very damaging to ocean life and ways of the sea.
Jeremy Jackson talks about how people are reckless too the oceans beyond belief. As an example, he explains how we don't think about what we are doing when we pollute plastic and other waste into the ocean thinking it won't effect the habitats of the ocean. this is one of the many reasons why we are wrecking the ocean. also industrial fishing, throwing vast nets into the surrounding water of fish killing them and selling them underprice, which may seem nice but is not a good thing for the health of our ocean. We obviously need to stop creating major problems for the ocean before it gets much worst.
The Ted talk really mattered to me because it made me realize how much we really are wrecking the ocean. I knew how we killed a ton of animals during the oil spill and industry fishing had a decent effect on the ocean, but i wasn't aware of the real damage. Its much worst then we think! My favorite part of the talk was when Jeremy Jackson concluded that we could still save the ocean and give it the nurture and care it needs to keep millions of salt-water existing animals still live and well which our world community needs. It really makes me want to be a part of the care of oceans. My least favorite part is overall the damage and really realizing its all on us.
I learnt a lot from this video, information that is both good and bad. I really liked the video because i love learning about the marine life because i am focusing on it in the future hopefully. It means a lot to know what is going on in the world of the sea and how i can have effect on my part to repair as much as i can in my ability!
